Richard E. "Bud" Maldeney, 77 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur. He was born on Wednesday, August 4, 1937 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late Edward Maldeney and the late Lillian (Bopp) Maldeney. He married Ruth A. Renninger on April 30, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel and she preceded him in death on June 8, 2014. Bud served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur; the Toledo area Polka Society; and the International Music Association, Inc. He was a graduate of Elmhurst High School in 1956 and retired in September of 1999 from Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. Surviving are his daughter, Deborah S. (Kay) Maldeney of Fishers; daughter, Rhonda J. (Barb) Maldeney of Kendallville; and sister, Rita (Joseph) Brinker of Fort Wayne. Preceding Richard in death were a sister and brother-in-law, Stan & Marjorie Nicholson and a sister-in-law, Joyce Maldeney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 in the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Jose Panamattahil officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hessen Cassel with Military Graveside Services to be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 12 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. A Rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Family LifeCare; Masses; or Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
