Virginia Alice Koester, 80 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 5:41 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at her residence. Her death was unexpected and followed an apparent heart attack. Virginia was born on Monday, September 10, 1934 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana the daughter of the late Godfred Kaiser and the late Vida (Hoffman) Kaiser. She married Walter Koester on September 11, 1954 and he survives. Virginia was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church-Flatrock. Virginia was a homemaker and also retired school bus driver for East Allen County Schools. She also retired from CWC Inc. in Ft. Wayne. Surviving are her husband, Walter Koester of Monroeville, IN; daughter, Sharon (George) Rorick of Monroeville, IN; daughter, Joyce (Kenneth) Fisher of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Janet (John) Long of Payne, OH; 6 grandchildren: Matthew (Susan) Linder; Daniel Fisher; Rachel Long; Brooke Long; Dan (Abbey) Rorick; and Heidi (Josh) Stamets; and 2 great-grandchildren: Alex Rorick and Isaac Stamets. Preceding Virginia in death was a granddaughter: Elizabeth D. Linder; 2 brothers: August & Howard Kaiser; 1 sister: Dorothy LaMiller. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock with Rev. Douglas Christian officiating. Interment will follow in the St John Lutheran Cemetery- Flatrock. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, IN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church-Flatrock.
