Robert H. Gledhill, 84 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Adams Woodcrest. He was born on Monday, February 2, 1931 in South Kingstown, Rhode Island the son of the late Hamor H. Gledhill and the late Barbara (Sherman) Gledhill. He married Marion C. Carpenter on June 19, 1954 in Perryville, Rhode Island. Robert was a member of Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed gardening, travel, antiques, and collecting coins. He was a 1948 graduate of South Kingstown High School in Rhode Island and received his Masters Degree from the University of Rhode Island and PHD from Purdue University. He was a Research Nutritionist with Central Soya for 23 years retiring in 1989 and after retirement had also worked part-time with Schnitz Accounting Service for 15 years. Survivors include his wife, Marion E. Gledhill of Decatur; son, Todd K. (Norma) Gledhill of Syracuse, IN; son, Rodney C. (Deb) Gledhill of Decatur; and son, Keith R. (Jennifer) Gledhill of Preble. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brooke (Kyle) Sanders; Ryan (Jasmine) Gledhill; Laura (Austin) Hermann; Allison Gledhill; Mark Gledhill; Mason Gledhill; Chandler Gledhill; Andrew (Katie) Kline; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 12 noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 22 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Private family funeral services will be held and interment will be in the New Fernwood Cemetery in Kingston, Rhode Island. Preferred memorials are to Gideon's International or Pleasant Dale Disaster Response.
