Esther Selking, 94 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 12:07 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in the Adams Heritage located in Monroeville. Esther was born on September 11, 1920 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late William Remenschneider and the late Edith "Ida" (Meyer) Remenschneider. She married the late Edward L. Selking on June 12, 1943 in St. Peter Lutheran Church-Goeglein, and he passed away on November 8, 1983. Esther was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and the Ladies Guild (one of the charter members) at the church. She was a graduate of Woodburn High School Class of 1938. Esther loved quilting & baking for her family & friends and enjoyed gardening. Esther was a homemaker; cake baker & decorator; was formerly employed at General Electric in Ft. Wayne; and Heyerly's Bakery in Ossian. Surviving are her son, Lynn (Sandy) Selking of Decatur, IN; daughter, Luanne (Doug) Haupt of Ft. Wayne, IN; son-in-law, DeWayne Doctor of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister-in-law, Maxine Remenschneider of New Haven, IN; 8 Grandchildren: Krista (Mike) Esslinger; Brent (Sarah) Doctor; Nathan (Joy) Selking; Jason (Julie) Selking; Greg (Jodi) Selking; Aaron (Amanda) Sekling; Ben (Celina) Haupt; Tim Haupt; and 17 Great-Grandchildren. Preceding Esther in death were 1 daughter, Judy Doctor; 1 grandson, Joshua Haupt; 2 sisters: Alma Hemsoth & Helen Federspiel; and 1 brother, Elmer Remenschneider. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen. Family and friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in the Adams-Heritage Chapel, 12011 Whittern Rd. Monroeville, IN with a brief devotional service to be held at 10:15 a.m. for those able to attend. Family & friends will also be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen (175th Anniversary Tanzania Mission Fund) or Worship For Shut Ins.
