Dale M. Gresley, 98 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born on Monday, April 9, 1917 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late Charles H. Gresley and the late Ruth I. (Barfell) Gresley. He married Gertrude Aumann on August 17, 1946 in St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. Dale was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was also a member of Harvestland Co-op. Dale enjoyed horse shoes, basketball & baseball. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a graduate of Hoagland High School and was a lifelong grain & livestock farmer. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Gresley of Hoagland; daughter, Kay (Victor) Brudi of Hoagland; son, James (Tracy) Gresley of Columbia City; son, Garl (Maggie) Gresley of Hoagland; son, Don Gresley of Hoagland; son, Neal (Joyce) Gresley of Decatur; and daughter, Debra (John) Swygart of Hoagland. He is also survived by six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 12 step great-grandchildren, one step great-great-grandchild. Dale was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kimberly Johnson; his step-granddaughter, Heidi Sierra; his daughter-in-law, Carol Gresley; his sister, Vivian Hisner; and four brothers; Herman, John, Carl, & Emmet Gresley. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen. Family and friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the Adams-Heritage Chapel, 12011 Whittern Road in Monroeville with a brief devotional service to be held at 10:15 a.m. for those able to attend. Visitation will also be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen or Worship for Shut-Ins.
