Daniel J. Harman, 60 years old of New Haven, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, December 12, 1954 in Decatur, Indiana the son of Donald C. Harman who passed away on February 19, 1980 and Alice K. (Sheets) Harman who passed away on July 26, 2002. He married Debra J. Strahm on November 6, 1976 in Decatur, Indiana. Dan was a member of the New Haven United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Bellmont High School in 1973 and IPFW in 1977 with a degree in Spanish and Political Science. He was employed for 20 years at Mill Supplies, Inc. as an outside salesman. He had also worked for ten years at Home Acres Building Supply and was Deputy District Director for Congressman Marlin Stutzman for three years. Dan enjoyed politics, reading, golf, & hockey as well as spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends. Surviving are his wife, Debra J. Harman of New Haven; daughter, Jennifer (Andrew) Stout of Fort Wayne; daughter, Brittany (Nathan) Swygart of New Haven; sister, Marilyn Whitman of Decatur; sister, Connie Meyer of Angola; brother, Richard (Linda) Harman of Decatur; mother-in-law, Jean Hildebrand of Decatur; and two granddaughters, Addison G. Stout and Olivia J. Stout. Preceding Dan in death were a daughter, Julia A. Harman on August 4, 1984; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn & Gary Stefanek; and his grandparents, Amos L. & Virgie M. Harman and Noah & Marie Sheets. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Chuck Fenwick will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the New Haven United Methodist Church located at 630 Lincoln Highway East in New Haven and from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Preferred memorials are to Shriner's Children Hospital or the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization.
