Virginia L. McIntosh, 79 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 in the Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne, following an extended illness. Virginia was born on Saturday, April 18, 1936 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Henry C. Gerke and the late Louise A. (Burkhamp) Gerke. She married Robert J. McIntosh on May 4, 1958 in St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling, and he survives. Virginia was a member of St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen, where she was active in the church choir, couples club, LWML, and Ladies Guild. Virginia was a member of the Hoagland Area Advancement Association; a longtime member of the Marion BG's 4-H Club in Allen County; and a 4-H leader and judge. She was also a member of Lutheran Life Villages Auxiliary. She and Bob also greatly enjoyed camping and spending time with other couples. She also loved bowling and was involved with the Hillcrest Bowling League in Ft. Wayne. Virginia was a graduate of Monmouth High School in 1954. She was employed for nine years at Lincoln National Life Insurance and had also worked at the Indiana Auto Auction. Virginia played in a Euchre club with friends for many years. She enjoyed making ceramics and tending to her plants and flowers. Virginia also liked to read, travel, and explore new recipes. Surviving are her husband, Robert J. McIntosh of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Danelle (Donald Westrick) Emenhiser of Hoagland, IN; son, Lyle (Beverly) McIntosh of Indianapolis, IN; brother, Donald (Rita) Gerke of Decatur, IN; 3 grandchildren: Jessica (Ben) Koenemann; Bethany Emenhiser; Emma McIntosh; and 2 great-grandsons: Charlie Wayne Koenemann and Ezekiel Alexander Koenemann. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Reverend Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen, Decatur, Indiana. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon - 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in the Lutheran Life Villages, South Anthony Campus Chapel, 6723 S. Anthony Blvd., where a brief devotional service for Virginia will be held at 12:50 p.m. Visitation will also follow from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, Virginia's family would request Preferred Memorials to: St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen 175th Anniversary Tanzania Mission; Lutheran Life Villages Auxiliary; or HAAA.
