Harold H. Schamerloh, 92 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur. He was born on Thursday, January 25, 1923 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Edwin Schamerloh and the late Sophia (Bultemeier) Schamerloh. He married Phyllis M. Heine on June 4, 1949 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New Haven. Harold was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur where he was a member of the choir for over 62 years and served in various offices in the church, including the Building Committee in 2010. He played bass fiddle in the Mudslingers band for many years and was an avid Cubs fan. Harold was a graduate of Decatur High School in 1941. He was a longtime Adams County farmer and retired from Hoosier Wire & Die. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis M. Schamerloh of Decatur; son, Larry L. (Karen) Schamerloh of St. Charles, MO; son, Duane C. (Marcela) Schamerloh of Scottsdale, AZ; granddaughter, Nan Marie (Justin) Miller of Fishers, IN; grandson, David L. Schamerloh of St. Charles, MO; two great-grandchildren, Shen M. and Akio M. Miller; and three step-grandchildren, Oscar; Fer; and Angie Villarreal. Preceding Harold in death were his son, Larry Lynn Schamerloh, who was stillborn and two brothers, Ralph Schamerloh in infancy and Carl Schamerloh, who was killed in action in WWII on September 9, 1944 near Voray, France. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 21 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Worship for Shut-Ins.
