Rev. Timothy James Carr, 53, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, a faithful servant to his Lord, departed this life and entered his eternal reward on December 21, 2015 at 5:25 p.m. with his wife and parents by his side at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Tim was born on April 6, 1962 in Port Arthur, Texas to James Carr and Elaine (Schaefer) Carr who both survive. He was baptized on April 22, 1962, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Groves, Texas. Following his instruction in the Lutheran faith, he was confirmed on Pentecost Sunday, June 6, 1976, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Nederland, Texas.

At the National Youth Gathering in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1980 Tim met a young lady by the name of Catherine G. Brillinger. They attended Concordia University Texas and were united in marriage on August 6, 1983 in Lincoln, Texas, and she survives.

Tim was an ordained minister in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. He graduated from Concordia University Texas in 1984 and Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne in 1988 with a Master of Divinity Degree. Following his graduation from the seminary, his ordination was held in June of 1988 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Groves, Texas. Tim served LCMS congregations including: Good Shepherd in Kingman, Arizona; Shepherd of the Hills in Rancho Cucamonga, California; Lamb of God in Ontario, California; St. John in Hamilton, Texas; Immanuel in Houston, Texas; St. John in Sycamore, Illinois; St. John in Aurora, Indiana; Grace in DeWitt, Iowa; Trinity in Toledo, Ohio; and Zion in Decatur, Indiana, where he and Catherine held their membership and he continued serving his Lord in a volunteer capacity until his death.

While working on his studies in college and at the seminary, Tim was employed by Walgreens as an assistant manager. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, especially historical books, and traveling. But, his greatest joy in life was serving his Lord as an under-shepherd in God’s church and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his family.

Tim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Catherine Carr of Ft. Wayne, IN; Son, Eric (Nora) Carr of Davenport, IA; Daughter, Ana (Jacob) Deal of Cameron Park, CA; Son, Michael (Allison) Carr of Ann Arbor, MI; Son, Alexander Carr of Ft. Wayne; Parents, James and Elaine Carr of Port Neches, TX; Brother, Don (Christy) Carr of Bridge City, TX; Father-in-law, Rev. Otto (Jean) Brillinger of Decatur, IN; and a brother-in-law Daniel (Anita) Brillinger of Noblesville, IN; and 4 Grandchildren: Ronan Carr, Edven Carr, Isaiah Deal, and Titus (TJ) Deal; and 5 nieces: Cassie Carr, Hope Carr, Cecelia Brillinger, Clarissa Brillinger, and Serena Brillinger. Tim was preceded in death by his mother – in – law Mildred Brillinger on December 12, 2013.

Funeral services for Tim will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church – Decatur with Rev. Allan Buss, Rev. James Voorman, and Rev. Ryan Kleimola officiating. Entombment will follow the services at the Concordia Cemetery Gardens in Ft. Wayne.

Tim’s family will receive friends and family from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church where a light luncheon will also be available from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center of the church.

In lieu of flowers, Catherine requests that memorial donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church – Decatur or Concordia Theological Seminary – Ft. Wayne.
