Carole L. Gaskill, 78 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016 in the Parkview Regional Medical Center located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Her death was unexpected.
Carole was born on February 22, 1937 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Isaac Case and the late Harriet (Fox) Case. She married the late Ronald Gaskill on January 2, 1954 and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1981.
Carole retired from Fleetwood Motor Homes in Decatur, Indiana following over 20 years of service. Carole greatly enjoyed golf and did have a Hole-in-one that she shot at Cross Creek Golf Course in Decatur. She also crocheted and created blankets for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid fan of sports, but specifically was focused on IU Basketball and the Chicago Cubs.
Surviving are her daughter, Debra Thomas of Logansport, IN; daughter, Ronna (Gary) Frecker of New Haven, IN; daughter, Pam (Randy) Scherer of Monroeville, IN; daughter, Kelly (Rick) Johnson of Monroeville, IN; son-in-law, Stan Spieth of New Haven, IN; sister, Joan (Bud) Sheets of Decatur, IN; 16 grandchildren: Sarah (Brian Layman) Buck; Jenny Buck-Binney; Karrie (Scott) Buuck; Kurt (Amy) Frecker; Johnny Swygart; Adam (Heather) Swygart; Jessica (Matt) Ross; Jessica May; Jamie (Nick) Scheumann; Cody (Carrie) Scherer; Logan (Brittany) Scherer; Lisa Spieth; Laura Spieth; Ryan Spieth; Molly Johnson; & Maddie Johnson; 18 great-grandchildren: Sadie Buck; Bryce Buck; Austin Binney; Jadyn Binney; Alex Buuck; Chase Buuck; Tyler Buuck; Carter Frecker; Cole Frecker; Michael Swygart; Levi Swygart; Chelsea Ross; Chase Ross; Caleigh Ross; Cami Ross; Colten Ross; Emma May; & Eli Gilbert; and 1 great-great-grandchild: Brooklynn Poe.
Preceding Carole in death were 1 daughter: Gina Spieth; 1 son: Isaac David Gaskill in infancy; 5 brothers: Max, Jim, Lloyd, Bill, Don Case; 1 sister: Rose Pollock.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, IN, and one hour prior to services Wednesday in the funeral home.
