W. David Augustyniak, 63 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne following a brief illness diagnosed on Monday.
He was born on January 22, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Walter Augustyniak (he passed away October 20, 2005) and Barbara (Reese) Augustyniak (she survives). Dave was united in marriage to Louann Scherer on August 6, 1976 at St. John Lutheran Church - Bingen and she survives.
Dave was a member of the St. Lutheran Church - Bingen. He was also a member of Teamsters Local #414 in Fort Wayne, IN.
Dave was self-employed as owner/operator of Dave's Tinker Shop, a body shop that evolved into a jack-of-all-trades business. In that capacity he was known throughout the community for his generosity and volunteerism, helping anyone at any time with anything. He also retired 4 years ago after 30 years of employment for various companies representing Teamsters Local #414. Several of the companies he worked for included: Dailey Asphalt; S. E. Johnson (low-boy driver); G & L Corporation; and USF - Holland. He also was employed by Crumback - Simons Chevrolet in New Haven and Cox Body Shop.
Surviving are his wife, Louann Augustyniak of Decatur, IN; son, Josh (Crissy) Augustyniak of Decatur, IN; son, Corey (Beverly) Augustyniak of Decatur, IN; daughter, Mandy Augustyniak of Decatur, IN; mother, Barbara Augustyniak of Hoagland, IN; sister, Edie (Barry) Krueckeberg of Hoagland, IN; brother, Steve (Nila) Augustyniak of Hoagland, IN; sister, Mia (Tim) Geiger of Hoagland, IN; 4 grandchildren: Tyler Augustyniak; Tasha Augustyniak; Jailen Augustyniak; and Julianna Augustyniak.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with rev. Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery - Bingen.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
