Theresa Louise Coonrod, 97 years old of New Haven, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at her residence.
Theresa was born on January 10, 1919 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late Charles Lopshire and the late Ursula (Brady) Lopshire. She married the late Elmer Francis Coonrod on November 18, 1939 in the St. Louise Catholic Church - Besancon and he passed away on November 19, 1996.
Theresa was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church - Besancon. Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family and playing card games & reading. She has quite the collection of dolls & bears that she acquired over the past 50 years. Theresa was also a frequent visitor of garage sales. She has a dog, "Cody" that has been un-separable & probably is connected in some way with her love of Westerns on TV. She also enjoyed the many years she spent at the lake with her family and friends. Theresa was a homemaker.
Surviving are her daughter, Diane (Pete) Zehr of New Haven, IN; son, Neil (Kathy) Coonrod of Monroeville, IN; daughter, Carol (Bob) Dunfee of New Haven, IN; daughter, Betty (James) Finan of Spencerville, IN; daughter, Norma Jean (Bill) Irvin of New Haven, IN; son, Phillip (Maggie) Coonrod of Grant, CO; 14 grandchildren: Connie Zehr; Susan Hille; Colleen Schroeder; Michael & Scott Coonrod; Jeff (Stacey) & Jared (Sandy) Dunfee; Jennifer (Kevin) Mason; Andrew Finan; Kathleen (Steve) Hanford; Sheri (Steve) Bowersox; Greg (Gretchen) Irvin; Karrie Smith; & Amy (Jamal) Riley; and 17 great-grandchildren: Amanda & Christi Hille; Tony, Alex, & Hunter Coonrod; Lukas, Matthew, & Bryce Dunfee; Britney, Kayla & Brock Mason; Declan Finan; Kiera & Brandt Irvin; Travis & Trent Smith; Caitlyn (Tristan) Fleming; & baby Hanford on the way in June.
Preceding Theresa in death were 1 granddaughter: Bonnie M. Zehr; 5 brothers: Orlando, Bernard, Charles, Eugene, & Charles B. (infancy) Lopshire; 2 sisters: Cecilia Voirol & Mary McCullough.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church with Father Benjamin Muhlenkamp officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacbos Chapel, Monroeville, IN and one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church on Thursday. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Masses to the church or to St. Louis Academy.
