Norma L. Miller, 92 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at her residence.
She was born on Saturday, November 17, 1923 in Decatur, Indiana the daughter of the late Gustav Krueckeberg and the late Selma (Bleeke) Krueckeberg. She began 66 years of married life with Benjamin F. Miller on January 6, 1946 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Union Township and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2012.
Norma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim and LWML. She was also an active member and past president of the American Legion Post #43 Auxiliary.
She attended Monmouth High School from grades 9 through 11. In order for her to finish high school, she became a housekeeper in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central High School in 1942. During World War II, she was employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne. Following her marriage, she became a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, active in her church and many 4-H activities.
Surviving are her daughter, Janice (Donald) Rary of Marietta, OH; daughter, Margene (John) Brown of Marietta, OH; son, Glen Miller of Milan, IN; sister, Irene Kiess of Decatur, IN; and brother, Melvin (Arlene) Krueckeberg of New Haven, IN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Angela Rary; Greg Rary; Nicholas Brown; Rev. Alex (Kristina) Brown Waters; Matthew Miller; Alan Miller; and Rachel Miller; and a great-granddaughter, Isla Lynn.
Preceding Norma in death were three sisters, Esther Krueckeberg; Amanda Dressler; and Gertrude Heine; two brothers, Truman and Morris Krueckeberg; and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, February 29, 2016 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim.
Friends will be received from 11 am to 2 pm and 3 to 6 pm, Sunday, February 28 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim or Worship for Shut-Ins.
