Mary Lu Clifton, 91 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in the Adams Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 30, 1924 in Wells County, Indiana the daughter of the late R. C. Pape and the late Emma (Heckley) Pape. She married the late M. DeVon Clifton on October 15, 1944 in the Wren United Brethren in Christ Church and he passed away on April 1, 1992.
Mary Lu was a former member of the Decatur United Brethren Church and a member of the Wren United Brethren in Christ Church.
She retired in 1984 from Decatur Industries with 15 years of service and also was a mother and homemaker.
Mary Lu had many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, puzzles, and reading. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Randall D. (Mary) Clifton of Decatur, IN; son, Gregory C. (Linda) Clifton of Decatur, IN; son, Larry DeVon (Wanda) Clifton of Decatur, IN; daughter, Kellie J. (Bill) Schultz of Decatur, IN; sister, Joan Hoffman of Decatur, IN; sister, Maxine Brandyberry of Waynedale, IN; six granddaughters, Angela (Mike) Sonnenberg; Jessica (Trent) Coil; Leah (Jerry) Wurm; Andrea (Josh) Ortiz; Megan (Brian) Post; Devon Schultz; three grandsons, Brian (Amanda) Schultz; Cale (Jessica) Clifton; Chase Copeland; 16 great-grandchildren, Emma, Samantha, Madelyn & Avery Sonnenberg; Juliana & Evan Coil; Landon & Stella Wurm; Nola, Olivia & Roman Ortiz; Lyla, Lainey, & Xander Post; Drew & Beau Schultz. She is also survived by her two wonderful caregivers, Sally Nern and Regina Cheatwood.
Preceding Mary Lu in death were a grandson, Matthew D. Clifton & a sister, Gladys Juanita McBride.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Rutledge officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
