Waneta Irene Davis, 93 years old, a longtime resident of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016 in the Adams Heritage located in Monroeville. She had been a resident of Monroeville for past 3 years.
Waneta was born on August 13, 1922 in Van Wert, Ohio the daughter of the late Ross McKean and the late Cecil (Pierce) McKean. She married the late Ivan Davis, Sr. on July 30, 1942 in Decatur, Indiana and he passed away on August 18, 1989.
Waneta was a member of the Decatur Church of God and the General Electric Retired Women. She specialized in handy man projects. She was highly qualified as a painter.
Waneta retired in 1984 from General Electric.
Surviving are her son, Ivan "Sonny" (Jan) Davis of Decatur, IN; son, Jerry (Deborah) Davis of New Haven, IN; son, Ronald (Nancy) Davis of Warren, IN; daughter-in-law, Nancy Davis of Decatur, IN; daughter-in-law, Linda Davis of Decatur, IN; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Waneta in death were 2 sons: Larry & Kenneth Davis; 1 brother, Arlo McKean; 2 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the Decatur Church of God with Dr. Robert Brink officiating.
Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to Decatur Church of God Food Pantry or Adams Heritage.
