Carolyn A. Habegger

February 14, 1937 — April 1, 2016

Carolyn Ann (Newman) Habegger, 79 years old of Convoy, Ohio, went to her heavenly home on Friday, April 1, 2016 at her residence.

She was born on Sunday, February 14, 1937 in Lima, Ohio the daughter of the late Ray Newman and the late Marguerite (First) Newman. She married Eldon L. Habegger on August 18, 1956 in Lima, Ohio.

Carolyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur, where she was active in the church choir and also has played the piano for service. For over 40 years, she played at church and enjoyed every moment. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at age seven and never wavered from her faith.

After raising her family, Carolyn became a partner with her husband, in the operation of the family business known as Habegger Floors in Decatur.

In 1999 at the age of 60, she graduated with honors from Taylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music.

Surviving are her husband, Eldon L. Habegger of Convoy, OH; daughter, Jolene (Bryan) Spray of Van Wert, OH; son, Lynn (Patti) Habegger of Bluffton, IN; daughter, Jayne Habegger of San Jacinto, CA; daughter, Evelyn (Matthew) Hammond of Decatur, IN; daughter, Rhonda Habegger of Decatur, IN; sister, Marcia (Dan) Conley of Sun City, CA; sister, Jane Estell of Lima, OH; brother, David Newman of San Bernardino, CA; brother, Ken (Priscilla) Newman of San Bernardino, CA; sister, Linda Moore of Lake Elsinore, CA; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Jason & Tonya Grunden of Van Wert, Ohio who provided loving care for Carolyn for the past two years, and her sister, Jane, who was by her side for six months.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016 in the First United Methodist Church in Decatur with Rev. Amy Covington and Rev. Harold Klinker officiating.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 6 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday .

Preferred memorials are to First United Methodist Church in Decatur.
