Mildred L. Baxter, 90 years old of Rockford, Ohio, and a former longtime resident of Wren, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Colonial Nursing Center.
She was born on Sunday, March 7, 1926 in Kokomo, Indiana the daughter of the late Alexander Pierce and the late Helen (Gribler) Pierce. She was lovingly raised by Leroy & Sarah Kreischer who preceded her in death. On August 29, 1948 she married James C. Baxter at St. Paul Reformed Church and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1991.
Mildred was a member of St. Paul Reformed Church where she was active in the Ladies Society for many years.
She retired in 1988 from Teleflex, Inc. in Van Wert, Ohio with 15 years of service. She had previously worked at Goods Lamp Factory in Ohio City for eight years.
Mildred loved to go to all of her grandkids activities. Her church and her family were the most important part of her life.
Surviving are her son, Donald E. (Marilyn) Baxter of Willshire, OH; sister, Dorothy (George) Wooley of Kokomo, IN; sister, Eloise (Michael) Biro of Van Wert, OH; sister, Donna Githens of Wren, OH; and sister, Nancy Etzler of Bowling Green, OH. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brandon Baxter and Trudy Baxter; four great-granddaughters, Sidney; Libby; Maddy; and Josie Baxter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mildred in death were three sons, Roger, Terry, & Larry Baxter; a daughter, Debbie Baxter; two grandchildren, Karmen & Tina Baxter.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the St. Paul Reformed Church with Rev. Chad Strabbing officiating. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Reformed Church Ladies Society.
