Ernest C. Hindenlang, 87 years old of Wickenburg, Arizona and Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, Arizona.
He was born on Monday, March 19, 1928 in Decatur, Indiana the son of the late John Hindenlang and the late Martha (Nussbaum) Hindenlang. He married Phyllis (Geissler) Arnold on November 30, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He served in the United States Army as part of the occupation forces in Japan.
Ernie was a member of the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur, the American Legion Homer Pierson Post #207 of Willshire, and the American Legion Post #79 of Yarnell, Arizona. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #1311 of Decatur, the Elks Lodge #933 of Decatur, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Decatur.
He retired from Motorola in Phoenix, Arizona after 30 years of service in management.
Ernie enjoyed spending time with friends riding ATV's in the Arizona desert.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Hindenlang of Wickenburg, AZ and Decatur, IN; son, David (Roberta) Hindenlang of Tucson, AZ; granddaughter, Amy Hindenlang of Tucson, AZ; brother, Gene (Judy) Hindenlang of Decatur, IN; step-son, Mark (Sherre) Arnold of Paducah, KY; step-son, Jay (Linda) Arnold of Liberty, IL; nephew, Mark (Brooke) Hindenlang of Decatur, IN; nephew, Rick (Chloie) Hindenlang of Berne, IN; nephew, Tim (Jodi) Hindenlang of Decatur, IN; five step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Ernie Suman officiating. Interment will follow in the Ray Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur and the American Legion Homer Pierson Post #207 of Willshire.
