Frederick L. "Fred" Mock, 88 years old of Monroeville, IN, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Adams Heritage located in Monroeville.
He was born on Wednesday, May 16, 1928 in Monroeville, IN. Fred was the son of the late Luther E. Mock and the late Almeda C. (Lahrman) Mock. He was united in marriage with Maxine M. Mock on February 15, 1957 in Antwerp, Ohio.
Fred served our Country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army
Fred was a member of the Antioch Lutheran Church, Hoagland where he served as a former member of the Church Council; Hoagland Area Advancement Association (HAAA); and American Legion Post #420 of Monroeville.
Fred was a farmer and livestock breeder. He retired from Phelps-Dodge in 1988 after 25 years as a Maintenance Mechanic. Fred was a former Co-Owner of A & M Feeds in Monroeville from 1958-1960. He worked for Monroeville Shoe Repair from 1988-1994. At one time, Fred had 100 head of cattle (polled Herford) and was a farrier. Fred loved to work with leather and was the former owner of the leather shop, Fredder's Leather in Monroeville. Fred was known for his two acre garden and his love of horses and mules.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine M. Mock of Monroeville, IN; son, Luther C. Mock of Monroeville, IN; son, Darwin F.(Nancy) Mock of Hamilton, OH; daughter, Patricia (Tim) Fisher of Marrow, OH; daughter, Michelle (Jerry) Witte of Hoagland, IN; nine grandchildren: Cameron L. Mock; Emily E. Mock; Justin M. (Joy) Mock; Jessica M. Mock; Corey J. Mock; Nicklaus A. (Heidi) Fisher; Samantha J. Fisher; Adam M. Witte; and Rachel L. Witte; and One great-grandchild, Paisley M. Rice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 in the Antioch Lutheran Church, Hoagland with Rev. David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery with a military graveside service that will be conducted by the American Legion Post #420 of Monroeville and VFW Color Guard.
Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home- Jacobs Chapel, 111 S. Water St. Monroeville and one hour prior to service Thursday in the church.
