Aaron David Conrad

September 4, 1977 — August 1, 2016

Aaron David Conrad, 38, of Marion, Indiana, and previously of Decatur, Indiana, met his Savior on August 1, 2016. He passed away at Marion General Hospital of a heart attack.

He was born on September 4, 1977 to Dr. David & Teresa “Teri” Conrad of rural Decatur. He was a proud alumnus of Wyneken Lutheran Memorial School and Bellmont High School. Aaron held a bachelor of science from Indiana Tech.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim, and also enjoyed attending The River Church in Marion. To hear him talk about it, it was as if Jesus was an old buddy he grew up with. Aaron’s faith was equal parts pragmatic, gritty and unwavering. It wasn’t like he only hung out with his Buddy on sunny days. In fact, he became even more resolute about the power of his Christian faith the more difficult the pains of life became. That’s probably one of the reasons he was so drawn to the lyrics of foot-stompin’, old school country music. If you were sitting next to him, he’d probably even sing you a song he wrote and tell you about his loving soul-mate, Stephanie (Bowman) Conrad. His favorite times were spent with his wife and children – daughter, Abigail, and sons, Isaiah & Elijah.

As the oldest brother, he was looked up to by Jacob (Jennifer) Conrad of Noblesville, Indiana and Samuel (Jennifer) Conrad stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. He admired his grandparents, Marvin & Laurina Conrad of rural Decatur and Barbara Gaunt of Decatur. He is also survived by nephews, a niece, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Aaron looked forward to the day he’d get to meet his grandpa, Kenneth Gaunt, who preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating.

Family & friends will be received from 2 to 5 & 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and from noon until the time of service on Sunday at the church .

Preferred memorials are to the Conrad Children’s Education Fund or NAMI.
