Rev. Max A. Case, 87, Marysville, Ohio, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at his home with his wife, Geneva, at his side. He was born in Decatur June 15, 1929, to the late Roy and Mary (Stetler) Case. He married the former Wanda Whittenbarger June 12, 1948; she preceded him in death in June of 1999 after 51 years of marriage. He married his dear companion, the former Geneva White, Sept. 30, 2000; she survives. He was a member of the Marysville Church of the Nazarene, where he and his late wife, Wanda, were privileged to pastor for 22 years. He also previously pastored the Pioneer Ohio Church of the Nazarene. He faithfully served and loved both congregations with a pastor's heart. Upon retirement in 1991, he moved to Willshire, Ohio, and spent his winters in Daytona Beach, Fla. He was a caring husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He truly was a man of integrity, a man with a good sense of humor and a man who always wore a smile. Family gatherings were filled with fun and laughter because he was there. Among survivors are his children, James (Carol) Case of Elgin, Ill., Gail (Ken) Moder of West Mansfield, Carol (Gene) McBride of Marysville and Susan (Roy) Fraker of Marysville; two sisters, Imolu Lenhart and Fern Bailey, both of Decatur; a brother, Bud Case of Decatur; brother- and sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Gerald) Knittle, Norma Whittenbarger, Sharon Snyder, Karen (Jerry) Miller and Janice (Ronnie) Swygart, all of Decatur, and Gene Ferguson of Springfield, Ohio. He was the proud grandpa of Kelly (Dan) Schoessling, Melissa (Jim) Buckardt, Julie (Dan) Manis, Katie (Patrick) Murphy, Ben Moder, Rev. Gene (Marianne) McBride, April (Terry) Wright, Amy (Clayton) Connolly, Emily Kruse, Andrew (Betsy) Fraker and Annie (Mike) DelConte. He was further blessed with 25 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews as well. He was preceded in death by a sister, Annabelle Laman; a step-son, Randy White; father- and mother-in-law, George and Florence Whittenbarger; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Case, Bev Case, Phyllis Whittenbarger and Virginia Ferguson; and brothers-in-law, Larry Whittenbarger, Herman Lenhart and Lyle Bailey. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Marysville Church of the Nazarene, 1126 North Maple St., Marysville, with the Rev. Kristi Payne and Rev. Ray LaSalle officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville. Pallbearers will be Gene McBride, Roy Fraker, Ben Moder, Andy Fraker, Harold Eugene McBride and Terry Wright. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home; and from 3-7 p.m. Friday at Ingram Funeral Home in Marysville. Preferred memorials are to Loving Care Hospice and Marysville Church of the Nazarene in care of Ingram Funeral Home.
