Eugene F. Renninger, 87 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Friday, August 23, 1929 in Hoagland, Indiana the son of the late Henry S. Renninger and the late Cecilia E. (Hoffman) Renninger. He married Mary I. Pitzen on July 20, 1963 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Fort Wayne.
Eugene served his country in the United States Army National Guard for eight years.
He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon in New Haven since 1976; UAW Local 57 Retiree; and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Eugene also was involved with the Hoagland High School Class of 1947 reunions and gatherings.
He was employed at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for over 38 years, retiring in 1985.
Eugene was a devoted family man. In addition to his family, he was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed his family pets. Eugene and Mary also enjoyed polka and swing dancing.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Mary I. Pitzen - Renninger of Fort Wayne; son, Antony Renninger of New Haven; son, Dion (Grace) Renninger of Grove City, OH; son, Jaime (Jennifer) Renninger of Fort Wayne; son, Carlo (Theresa) Renninger of Monroeville; son, Vance (Michelle) Renninger of Leo; daughter, Paula Renninger (Brad Matter) of Monroeville; son, Aaron (Abigail) Renninger of Williamsburg, VA; daughter, Gina (Nate) Lesh of Fort Wayne; son, Brandan Renninger of Fort Wayne; son, Isaac (Kindra) Renninger of Indianapolis; son, Rico (April) Renninger of Markle; sister, Sr. Theresa Renninger of Avilla; sister, Sr. Marilyn Renninger of Frankfort, IL; sister, Gertrude Brames of Monroeville; brother, Arthur (Julie) Renninger of Fort Wayne; brother, Richard (Karen) Renninger of Fort Wayne; brother, Robert (Marge) Renninger of Yoder; and 32 grandchildren.
Preceding Eugene in death were two sisters, Judith Renninger and Ruth Maldeney; four brothers, Henry, Jerome, Norbert, and Jule Renninger; two brother-in-laws, Richard Maldeney and Parnell Brames; and a sister-in-law, Rosie Renninger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon, 15535 Lincoln Highway East, New Haven . Fr. Ben Muhlenkamp will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Besancon.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 9 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville and one hour prior to the Mass Saturday at the church . A Catholic Vigil will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are Masses or St. Louis Academy.
