Maurice J. Hoffman, 78 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
He was born on Tuesday, May 24, 1938 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Benedict Hoffman and the late Luella (Huth) Hoffman. He married Luanne Robison on April 4, 1959 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Fort Wayne.
Maurice was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville where he was active in the Friends of St. Joseph. He helped establish the Monroeville EMS in May 1975 and served as president and volunteer for ten years. He was a Boy Scout Leader, served on the Monroeville Town Board; served on the Monroeville Park Board; and served on the St. Rose School Board.
He retired from 3M Business Products in Fort Wayne in 1998 with 30 years of service. After retirement he worked at Sears at Southtown Mall for five years.
Surviving are his wife, Luanne Hoffman of Monroeville; daughter, Kimberly Mahurin of Monroeville; son, Scott Hoffman of Fort Wayne; son, Steve (Katie) Hoffman of Monroeville; son, Michael (Jennifer) Hoffman of Monroeville; eight grandchildren, Angela (Daniel) Bridge; Aaron J. Greve; Kevin Greve; Cody Hoffman; Ethan Hoffman; Christian Hoffman; Dylan Hoffman; & Mason Hoffman; & three great-grandchildren, Natalie Greve; A. J. Greve; & Bennett Bridge.
Preceding Maurice in death were two brothers, Fr. Eugene Hoffman & Roland Hoffman.
A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Monroeville with Fr. Lourdino Fernandes officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 12 noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, September 25 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville . A Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday following visitation at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School or St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
