Noble D. Nicodemus, 92 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Thursday, March 20, 1924, in Ijamsville, Indiana the son of the late Walter Nicodemus and the late Marjorie (Penn) Nicodemus. Noble was united in marriage with Ruth Knittle on September 16, 1950 in Decatur, Indiana and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2013.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Army in Germany. Following his discharge from the Army, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until honorably discharged in 1948 at the rank of Sergeant.
Noble was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur and he also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #43 in Decatur.
He was employed at Central Soya and retired as the supervisor of the edible oil division in 1989 with 41 years of service.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Nicodemus of Decatur; son, Roger Nicodemus of Pentwater, MI; sister, Donnabell Leeth of Boaz, AL; and sister, Jeannette (Lewis) Vale of Vacaville, CA.
Preceding Noble in death were three sisters, Dorothy Thomas, Donnella Hayes, and Mary Rose Raudebush and a brother, Robert Nicodemus.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. Chris Gadlage officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur .
Preferred memorials are to the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
