Barton S. Akamine, 65 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 in Decatur.
He was born on Thursday, September 13, 1951 in Honolulu, Hawaii the son of the late Bernard S. Akamine and Jeanette S. (Arashiro) Akamine.
Barton was a former member of the Moose Lodge #1311. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #2653 where he served as the former vice-president and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #43. Barton was a life member of the North American Fishing Club and the Natioinal Rifle Association.
He was a 1970 graduate of Kaimuki High School in Honolulu, Hawaii and worked in maintenance at McDonald's from 2004 to 2016.
Surviving are his fiancee, Amy Williamson of Decatur, IN; mother, Jeanette Akamine of Honolulu, HI; son, Brandyn Akamine of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Drusilla (Stan) Tanaka of Kaneohe, HI, and sister, Candace (Karl) Sakuda of Honolulu, HI.
A memorial service will be held at
11:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with visitation one hour prior
.
Visitation will also be held from
12 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2016 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
