Alice C. Moses - Affolder, 97 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away early Saturday, November 26, 2016 at her residence.
She was born on Sunday, July 27, 1919 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Louis Holle and the late Caroline (Franke) Holle. On April 5, 1941 she married Richard K. Moses in Fort Wayne, Indiana and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1990. She married V.W. “Bun” Affolder on April 8, 1995 at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2014.
Alice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur and the American Legion Post #43 Auxiliary in Decatur. Both of her husbands were WWII Veterans and were very active in the American Legion Post #43. She was also a member of the Root Township Homemaker's Club for over 70 years where she served as secretary for most of those years.
She was a graduate of Monmouth High School and retired in 1982 from North Adams Community Schools with 15 years of service in the cafeteria. She had also worked at General Electric in both Fort Wayne & Decatur and the cafeteria at Monmouth Elementary.
Surviving are her son, Steven R. Moses of Fort Lauderdale, FL; son, Ken D. Moses of Decatur, IN; step-daughter, Sheri L. Affolder of Ypsilanti, MI; step-daughter, Lu Ann (Spyvos Enotiades) Porter of NY; granddaughter, Amy Moses of Decatur, IN; and three great-grandchildren, Rebekka Moses Beitler; Roxanna Moses Beitler; and Justuin Moses Beitler.
Alice was preceded in death a son, Jerry L. Moses; a granddaughter, Laura Moses; three brothers, Hilbert Holle; Donald Holle; and Gene Holle; and two sisters, Berniece Stoppenhagen and Stella Busse.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. James Voorman officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 29 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday .
Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran School, Zion Lutheran Church, or American Legion Post #43 Color Guard of Decatur.
