Karen F. Hartman

Karen F. Hartman, 69 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana following a brief illness.

She was born on Thursday, August 21, 1947 in Meadowview, Virginia the daughter of the late Charles Flannagan and the late Georgetta (Willen) Flannagan. She married LeRoy Hartman on June 5, 1965.

Karen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen.

She was a long-time receptionist for Dr. Donald Giant in Monroeville, Indiana and had also assisted at Wyneken Lutheran School in Decatur as a home economics teacher. She enjoyed quilting very much and was involved with two different quilting organizations. Karen had many requests for wedding dresses for the entire bridal party, including the bride.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, LeRoy Hartman of Fort Wayne, IN; son, Mark (fiancée, Linda Reed) Hartman of Fort Wayne, IN; son, Brian Hartman of Hoagland, IN; son, Scott Hartman of New Haven, IN; sister, Kathy (Mel) Fruit of Huntington, IN; and six grandchildren, Christopher Hartman; Zachary Hartman; Madeline Hartman; Joseph Hartman; Samuel Hartman; & Thomas Hartman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Rev. Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 16 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church 175th Mission.
