Lawrence W. Fuelling

Lawrence W. “Lorney” Fuelling, who was born Lorenz W. Fuelling, 95 years old of Decatur, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 in the Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.

He was born on August 18, 1921 in Allen County the son of the late Henry W. Fuelling and the late Louise L. (Kukelhan) Fuelling. Lawrence was united in marriage to Margaret L. Kaiser on September 16, 1950 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, IN and she preceded him in death on October 24, 2015.

He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, being deployed to the European Theater of operations as an anti-tank gunner.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church - Fuelling, and the American Legion Post #43, Decatur.

Lawrence was a lifelong farmer and he was employed with General Electric - Decatur for 19 years.

Surviving are his daughter, Susan (John) Gerke of Duck, NC; son, Steven (Katherine) Fuelling of Decatur, IN; daughter, Barbara Hess of Monroeville, IN; son, James (Rebecca) Fuelling of Decatur, IN; 12 grandchildren: Stephanie (P.J.) George; Scott (Stacy) Gerke; Sarah (Bryan) Haugh; Bradley (Shannon) Fuelling; Rachel, Matthew, & Kristen Fuelling; Brittney (Damien) Martinez; Barton (Alisha) Hess; Dane (Jennifer) Fuelling; Emalese & Garrett Fuelling; 15 great-grandchildren: Noah, Ethan, Kate, & Leah George; Evan Gerke; Chase Haugh; Maxwell & Mallory Fuelling; Kierstyn, Kiley, & Kashton Hess; Khloe, August, Eva, & Marko Fuelling; and Niece & Nephews: Kathleen Semprini, Thomas and Roger Fuelling.

Preceding Lawrence in death were 4 brothers: Marvin, Albert, Harold, and Wilbert Fuelling; 1 sister, Helen Doctor; Nephew: Robert Doctor; Niece: Betty Koehlinger.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling with Rev. Martin Moehring officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Fuelling Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.

Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church - Fuelling Endowment Fund or St. Peter - Immanuel Lutheran School.
