Keith H. Bohnke, 76 years old of Monroeville, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, in the Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne, following a very brief battle with cancer which was diagnosed 10 days ago.
He was born on August 16, 1940 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Henry Bohnke and the late Edna (Hoffman) Bohnke. Keith was united in marriage to Rita Buesching on August 21, 1965 in St. Peter Lutheran Church – Ft. Wayne and she survives.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock and the American Legion Post #420, Monroeville. Keith was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserve as a Staff Sergeant.
Keith retired from UPS in 1993 after 31 years of service. He was one of the original 6 drivers for the Ft. Wayne hub and was the first to retire. In addition, Keith was a lifelong farmer, a love that he continued until his death.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Rita Bohnke of Monroeville, IN; son, Bryan (Terri) Bohnke of Yoder, IN; sister, Lois Cenko of Monroeville, IN; and two grandchildren: Alexandrea Bohnke and Cameron Bohnke.
Preceding Keith in death was a son, David Alan Bohnke on November 4, 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock with Rev. Douglas Christian officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Monroeville.
Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, Keith's family would suggest preferred memorials to St. John Lutheran Church - Flatrock or Lutheran Social Services.
