Glenda Lee Holloway , 79 years old of Willshire, Ohio, joined her Lord and Savior along with the love of her life on Valentine’s Day , February 14, 2017.
She was born on Tuesday, November 2, 1937 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Benoit P. Johnson and the late Della M. (Longenberger) Johnson. She married Donald Holloway on July 20, 1957 in Pleasant Mills, Indiana and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2009.
Glenda graduated from Pleasant Mills High School in 1955. She received her RN from Parkview School of Nursing in 1958 and her BSN from St. Francis University. She retired from Fort Wayne Cardiology in 2003. Glenda had also worked in Decatur for Dr. John Carroll and Adams Memorial Hospital, Lutheran Hospital, and Parkview Hospital
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur and Van Wert County Farm Bureau. She was a former member of the Wren Ballpark Association. Glenda was an avid fan of the Crestview Knights, Cincinnati Reds, and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Family was very important to Glenda, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and all extended family. She enjoyed her farm, animals, nature, and photography.
Surviving are her son, Mike (Darlene) Holloway of Willshire, OH; two daughters, Shelly (Steve) Holden of Convoy, OH and Jeanene (Jeff) Leary of Willshire, OH; two sisters, LuAnna Hirschy and Pat (Larry) Jackson both of Decatur, IN; two brothers, John Johnson and Richard (Nyla) Johnson both of Decatur, IN and sister-in-law, Rose Habegger, of Berne, IN. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Becky (Mike) Greenwalt; Alex Holloway; Derek (Erin) Holden; Ashley (Andy) Breese; Matt Holden; and Nick, Olivia, Hannah, and Emma Leary; four great-grandsons, Liam & Jackson Greenwalt; Jensen Holden; and Riley Breese; and several nieces & nephews.
Preceding Glenda in death were a brother, Bob Johnson; brother-in-law, Roy Hirschy; sister-in-laws, Annabelle Johnson & Joan Johnson; a niece, Susan Johnson; and a great-nephew, Myles Hemrick.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. Randy Rossman officiating. Interment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery in Willshire, Ohio.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, February 18 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to Zion United Church of Christ, St. Jude Children's Hospital or donor's choice.
