George R. "Bud" Hickox , 80 years old of New Haven, IN, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017at his residence.
He was born on Monday, June 29, 1936 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late George C. Hickox and the late Martha (Hicks) Hickox. He married Betty (Wietfeldt) Salzbrenner on February 8, 1975 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gar Creek.
Bud served his country in the United States Army.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gar Creek in New Haven. He enjoyed sports and playing cards…euchre being a favorite. Bud found joy in watching life pass by and talking with others about it.
He was a graduate from Lancaster High School in 1955. He was employed with Masolite Concrete for 20 years as a truck driver. Prior to Masolite, he drove truck for Old Fort Supply in Fort Wayne and for Bradtmueller Trucking. Bud was also a basketball referee in the Fort Wayne area for ten years.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Hickox of New Haven, IN; daughter, Barbara Hickox of Westville, IN; step-son, Chad (Staci) Salzbrenner of New Haven, IN; daughter, Kris (fiance, Nik Staak) Fowler of New Haven, IN; sister, Sharon (Frank) Monka of Cleveland, TN; eight grandchildren, Kenzie, Logan, Reagan, A.J., Alli, Jenny, Heather, and T.J.; and one great-grandchild.
Preceding Bud in death were a brother & sister-in-law, Richard and Sylvia Hickox.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gar Creek with Rev. Michael Blodgett officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Gar Creek.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 7 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Gar Creek in New Haven and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church- Gar Creek or Central Lutheran School Building Fund.
