Ross Alan Bowen , 73, of Monroeville passed away Monday, May 1, 2017, at Summit City Rehab in Fort Wayne following an extended illness.

He was born on August 8, 1943 in Monroeville, Indiana to the late Chester Bowen and the late Bonita (Barkley) Bowen. On October 25, 1964, he married Sally Hahn at the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur.

Ross served his country in the Air National Guard, being stationed at the 122nd Tactical Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne for six years.

Ross graduated from Monroeville High School in 1961. He was employed at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn for eight years; was a salesman for Ralston Purina in Northeast Indiana for 23 years; and a Parkview Hospital security officer for almost ten years.

He was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville. Wanting to help his community, Ross volunteered his time for over 35 years with the Monroeville EMS.

Ross loved his animals, specifically livestock; and he raised sheep, cattle, and hogs over his lifetime. His time spent with family, at work, with EMS, and raising his animals left him fulfilled in his life.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sally Bowen of Monroeville; three sons, Mark (Kimberly) Bowen of Monroeville; Eric (Michelle) Bowen of Decatur; and Gary Bowen of Hoagland; four grandchildren, Kecia (Tucker) Foote; Megan (Isaac) Kaehr; Paige (Cole BonVillian) Bowen; & Nathan Bowen; three great-grandchildren; Riley Foote; Addison Kaehr; & Leland Kaehr; two sisters, Ruby (Lester) Werling of Decatur & Ruth Ann (Richard) Hartmann of Ossian; two brothers, Rex (Addie) Bowen of Woodburn & Ronald (Pat) Bowen of Fort Wayne; and Sally’s brother & sister, John (Joyce) Hahn of Monroeville & Debra (Don) Shoup of Churubusco.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Bowen in infancy and a sister, Rita Jaurigue.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel located at 111 S. Water Street in Monroeville with Rev. Harold Klinker officiating. Interment will follow at the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
