Frances E. (Troendly) Gibson, 95 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born on Monday, May 30, 1921 in Wayne Township, Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late Francis W. Troendly and the late Louisa Jane (Gibbons) Troendly. She married Joseph W. Gibson on July 1, 1944 in Monroeville, Indiana and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1983.
Frances was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville.
She was a homemaker but also was employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 22 years, retiring in 1963.
Frances was always seeking to stay in the background when helping others. She enjoyed creating thousands of rosaries for many years after her husband died. Through these rosaries, she was able to share her faith in her Lord and His Mother. Sewing was another hobby that she enjoyed and true to form, she provided many gifts to the Missions in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Minick of Woodburn, IN; son, Dr. Thomas J. Gibson of Muncie, IN; daughter, Patti (Stan) Gallmeyer of Woodburn, IN; son, Steven (Debbie) Gibson of Woodburn, IN; ten grandchildren, Renee (Ron) Buskirk; Ryan (Nikki) Gibson; Mitch (Jenny) Gibson; Kathleen Gibson; Jennifer (Roy) Sorg; Staci (Jeremy) Frick; Michael Gallmeyer; Andrea (Mark) Kever; Nicole (Scott) Rexroth; & Allison Gibson; and 12 great-grandchildren, Ronnie Buskirk; Ivan Gibson; Lincoln Gibson; Emily Sorg; Erica Sorg; Gabriella Frick; Isabella Frick; Sophia Kever; Griffin Kever; Alex Rexroth; Logan Rexroth; & Corbin Rexroth.
Preceding Frances in death were a daughter-in- law, Sarah Gibson; two brothers, Joseph W. Troendly and George Troendly; and three sisters, Mary Andreski; Margaret Junk; & Theresa Zorger.
Funeral services for Frances will begin with the reciting of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial also at the church. Fr. Lourdino Fernandes will officiate. Interment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 14 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville. There will not be any visitation on Monday at the church.
Preferred memorials are Masses or Monroeville Food Bank.
