Mildred I. Strahm

Mildred I. Strahm , 93 and a lifelong of Decatur, Indiana passed away Tuesday morning, June 13, 2017 at Adams Memorial Hospital. She had resided at Swiss Village in Berne for the past year.

She was born on April 27, 1924, in Adams County, Indiana, to the late Clifford T. Marshall and the late Mae N. (Reece) Marshall. She married Lester L. Strahm on February 27, 1943, at the Decatur Baptist Church, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2003.

Mildred was a member of the former Decatur Missionary Church where she had taught Sunday school for over 40 years.

She retired from CTS in Berne in 1986. She was a homemaker, seamstress, and really enjoyed different crafts.

She is survived by two daughters, Sonja S. Strahm of Fort Wayne, IN & Marlene K. (Jim) Gibson of Three Rivers, MI; son, Richard L. Strahm of Fort Wayne, IN; step-sister, Rosemary Osborne of Fort Wayne, IN; two grandsons, Todd Wilkins of Fort Wayne, IN & Douglas (Linda) Wilkins of York, PA; great-grandson, Isaac Wilkins of York, PA; & great-granddaughter, Ella Wilkins of York, PA.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela L. Strahm; a brother, Clifford Marshall; two step-sisters; and four step-brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with visitation one hour prior . Rev. Floyd Vieth & Rev. Ken Hogg will officiate. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.

Visitation will also be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at Swiss Village in Berne, IN and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home .

Preferred memorials are to Swiss Village; Cornerstone Community Church; or First Missionary Church in Fort Wayne.
