Margaret E. (Taylor) Ray , 83 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was born on Sunday, August 6, 1933 in Paulding County, Ohio the daughter of the late Vernellus V. Taylor and the late Naomi Ruth (Lehman) Taylor. She married Ned L. Ray on August 22, 1953 in Dupont, Ohio.
Margaret retired from Gilpin Ornamental Iron in Decatur and had previously worked at the Shaffer Glove Factory.
She was a member of Gold Wing Road Riders; American Motorcycle Association; National Rifle Association; & the Red Hats Society. Margaret enjoyed doing word search puzzles & riding with her husband on their Gold Wing Motorcycle. They were able to visit 48 states at least two times since 1978 and have covered six hundred thousand miles.
Surviving are her husband, Ned L. Ray of Decatur; daughter, Denise D. (Thomas) Laws of Lafayette; two sons, Robin L. (Roxanne) Ray & Tobin V. (Nancy) Ray both of Decatur; brother, Martin (Wanda) Taylor of Oakwood, OH; four sisters, Miriam (Virgil) Bibler of Continental, OH; Mary (Jack) Bertsch of Decatur; Marlene (Charlie) McClure of Oakwood, OH & Marilyn (Veryl) Sheets of Mendon, OH; 13 grandchildren, & 26 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Margaret in death was a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Funeral Celebrant Molly Farthing officiating. Interment will follow at Tricker Cemetery in rural Monroe, Indiana.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 7 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to St. Jude Children's Hospital or St. Joseph's Indian School.
