Franklin C. "Pete" Crosby, 84, of Fort Wayne passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Hamilton Place Assisted Living in Fort Wayne.
He was born on September 8, 1933 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Fredrick V. Crosby and the late Amelia A. (Fuelling) Crosby. He married Carol R. Schoenemann on May 25, 1957 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Waynedale.
Frank served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 3rd Armored Division, being honorably discharged as a Private First Class.
After graduating from Monmouth High School in 1951, he studied carpentry. He would follow his studies to work with Irmsher Contruction for nine years prior to becoming construction superintendent with Robert W. Crosby and Son Construction, where he worked for 33 years before retiring in 1997.
Frank was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Decatur Road in Fort Wayne. He was also a member of the Waynedale Lions Club, Carpenters Union Local #232, American Legion Post #296 in Fort Wayne, the Korean War Veterans Chapter 1 in Fort Wayne, as well as the Disabled American Veterans, and Forty and Eight.
Frank was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He also loved his Purdue Boilermakers and in his later years, became accepting of the IU Hoosiers as his only grandson is a proud graduate! He enjoyed gardening, volunteering at church and the Lions Club, and always had a joke or something to make people laugh. A strong work ethic was important to Frank, he was never tardy for events and was very reliable.
He is survived by his wife, Carol R. Crosby of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kari A. (Karl) Berron of Indianapolis; son, Steven (Dawn) Crosby of Fort Wayne; sister, Mary Thieme of Decatur; brother, Charles Crosby of Decatur; brother, James (Ann) Crosby of Ossian; sister, Dorothy Smith of Fort Wayne; and a grandson, Sam L. Berron of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Elvira Crosby and Ruth Crosby; and three brothers-in-law, Gilbert Thieme; Glen Smith; and Bill Kenney.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 7819 Decatur Road in Fort Wayne with Rev. Michael Trombley officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the services at church on Thursday.
