Irvin C. Hoffman

Irvin C. Hoffman , 94, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Adams Heritage in Monroeville.

He was born on Sunday, February 4, 1923 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Victor Hoffman and the late Pauline (Bieberich) Hoffman. He married Carolyn Fredrick on August 23, 1947 at Marquardt Lutheran Church.

Irvin served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII.

He retired from Woodburn Diamond Die and had previously worked at Hoosier Wire Die and Ajax Wire Die. He was also a lifelong Madison Township farmer.

Irvin was a member of Marquardt Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was a member of American Legion Post #43 of Decatur and served on the Advisory Board for the Village of Heritage. He was also a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau in Allen County.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hoffman of Monroeville; daughter, Jan (John) Jarrett of Monroeville; son, Leslie (Pamela) Hoffman of South Whitley; daughter, Nancy (Rick) Gilbert of Monroeville; and daughter, Deanna (Tim) Rorick of New Haven. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Matthew (Beth) Jarrett; Renee Jarrett; David (Angie) Jarrett; Holly (Andy) Swogger; Joshua (Lauren) Hoffman; Amy (Kyle) Koch; Tammy (Jeff) Harding; Bob (Allie) Gilbert; Claire Rorick; Olivia Rorick; and Bethany Rorick; and 15 great-grandchildren, Brayden Jarrett; Brianna Jarrett; Ella Jarrett; Lilly Jarrett; Madisyn Redman; Landon Swogger; Lydia Swogger; Montgomery Hoffman; Morrison Hoffman; Morgan Gomez; Taylor Koch; Blair Harding; A.J. Harding; Culvin Gilbert; and Dhylan Gilbert.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Gilbert Hoffman and two sisters, Florence Sebesta and Marcella Kukelhan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Marquardt Lutheran Church with Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in the Marquardt Lutheran Cemetery with Military Graveside Services to be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 29 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Preferred memorials are to Marquardt Lutheran Church or Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
