Virginia C. Landis , 95, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at her residence following an apparent stroke.
She was born on Friday, August 4, 1922 in Mercer County, Ohio the daughter of the late William E. Hamrick and the late Maude E. (Cordell) Hamrick. She married Homer G. Landis on February 9, 1941 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1984.
Virginia retired in 1986 from Decatur Industries with 27 years of service.
She was a former member of the Decatur Wesleyan Church where she had taught Sunday school and served as the secretary of the church board. She was also active in the Women's Missionary Society and the Happy Homemaker's Extension Club where she had held a number of offices. She had more recently been attending the Salem Community Church.
Survivors include her son, John E. (Mary) Landis of Decatur; grandson, Robert A. Landis of Houston, TX; grandson, James E. (Denise) Landis of Decatur; and sister, Bessie (Kenneth) Sanders of Berne.
She was preceded in death by a son, Duane Landis; a daughter, Carolyn Landis; and two brothers, Cloyde & Herman Hamrick.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. Dr. Robert Brink officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 5 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to Salem Community Church.
