Thomas A. Sorg , 69, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on Wednesday, September 29, 1948 in Hoagland, Indiana the son of the late Arthur Sorg and the late Sylvia (Converset) Sorg. He married Linda O’Connor on October 17, 1970 and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2014.

Thom served his country in the United States Army Reserves.

He was a member of the class of 1966 at Hoagland High School and Bishop Luers High School. He retired from Thom Sorg & Sons Well Repair & Drilling in 2013 after 25 years. Prior to that, he had worked at Central Supply Company & Martin, Inc.

Thom was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel; American Legion Post 330 in New Haven where he was active in the Legion Riders; and the Hoagland Area Advancement Association. He was also a former member of the Poe Conservation Club. He loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two sons, Roy (Jennifer) Sorg of Hoagland & Ken (Angela) Sorg of New Haven; three sisters, Monica (Don) Johnson of Fort Wayne; Lucille Comment of Monroeville; & Bertha (Rich) Schaefer of Urbana, OH; two brothers, Ervin (Gloria) Sorg of Hoagland & Paul (Pat) Sorg of Auburn; & three grandchildren, Emily Sorg; Erica Sorg; & Hannah Sorg.

A Prayer Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2017, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel with Fr. William Kummer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hessen Cassel.

Friends will be received from 12 noon to 3 p.m. & 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, October 22 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville followed by the reciting of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Hoagland Area Advancement Association or the St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Building Fund.
