Marcia M. Ladd, 74, of Ossian, IN passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne following complications related to recent surgeries.
She was born on Friday, January 1, 1943 in Lima, Ohio the daughter of the late J. Carl Stopher and the late Gertrude (Flanagan) Stopher. At the age of 16, Marcia’s mother passed away and following her death, she was raised from that point on by her aunt & uncle, Jim & Charlotte “Chy” Leighner. Marcia married Harold R. Ladd on June 19, 1966 in Delphos, Ohio and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2017.
She attended the Zanesville United Brethren Church.
Marcia & her husband operated the Village Restaurant in Willshire, Ohio for 15 years. Following her years in the restaurant, she operated the Slimmer Image store in Willshire and also worked for J C Penney at Southtown in Fort Wayne & Meijer at the Lima Road Store in Fort Wayne until her retirement in 2005.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla (Wally) Mesing of Decatur; two grandsons, Mark Mesing & Paul (fiancée, Sara Williamson) Mesing; & nephew, Steve (Nancy) Stopher of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl J. "Boob" Stopher and a nephew, Kevin Stopher.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2017 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. Tom Datema officiating. Interment will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Delphos, Ohio.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 10 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur & one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Adams County 4-H or Willshire Park Fund.
