La Von Scherer

LaVon Scherer , 92, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Adams Heritage in Monroeville.

She was born on Monday, August 3, 1925 in Wells County, Indiana the daughter of the late Ernest Bauermeister and the late Edna (Gallmeyer) Bauermeister. She married Robert Scherer on June 14, 1947 in Ossian, Indiana and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1996.

La Von was employed at Hoagland Elementary School as a cook for 19 years.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling where she served on the Ladies Aid, the Altar Guild, & was a member of the choir for several years.

Survivors include her four sons, Barry L. (Denise) Scherer, Kevin (Marci Koons) Scherer, Keith (Suzy) Scherer all of Monroeville, & Bruce (Brenda) Scherer of Hoagland; sister, Arline (John) Koomjohn of Oswego, IL, sister-in-law, Alice Bauermeister of Ossian; 11 grandchildren, Zachary Scherer, Patricia Scherer, Jennifer Mitchell, Casey Scherer, Kari Scherer, Jennifer Krinn, Darcy Wyss, Kyle Scherer, Brandon Scherer, Nathan Scherer, and Courtney Scherer; & 12 (+2) great-grandchildren, Ryder Massoth, Londyn Mitchell, Remy Mitchell, Gavin Scherer, Cooper Scherer, Josie McKenna, Lincoln Krinn, Owen Wyss, Elliott Wyss, Hannah Scherer, Maverick Scherer, & Walker Scherer.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Robyn Scherer; a grandson, Joseph Stump; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Scherer; & three brothers, Norbert, Lester, & Glenn Bauermeister.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2017 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling with Rev. Martin Moehring officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Fuelling.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 & 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, December 9 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur & one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.

Preferred memorials are to Worship Anew (Worship for Shut Ins); SPI Lutheran School Endowment; or the donor's choice.
