Alice G. Sirk , 92, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at her residence.
She was born on Wednesday, January 7, 1925 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Vilas Luginbill and the late Ruth M. (Parr) Luginbill. She married James W. Sirk on December 3, 1950 at Bethel Brethren Church and he preceded her in death on October 21, 2003.
She was a member of the North Highlands Church of Christ in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she had worked in the nursery and was also involved with the Miriam Circle group at church. Alice also enjoyed volunteering for different organizations in the Aboite community in Fort Wayne.
Alice was a homemaker. Prior to her children being born, she was also a hairdresser and owned the Studio Beauty Salon in Fort Wayne. Following the birth of her first son, she sold the business, but continued being a hairdresser for over 20 years. Alice was also an Avon Representative for many years. One of the greatest rewards she received during those years was meeting and interacting with her customers.
Alice was an avid doll collector and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and needlework. Bowling and fishing were also favorite hobbies of hers.
Survivors include two sons, J. Wylie (Jeanie) Sirk II of Decatur & Fritz (Lori) Sirk of Hoagland; two sisters, Catherine "Kate" (Clarence) Hamrick of Willshire, OH & Marilynn Louise (Gerry) Simons of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Jim (Ashley) Sirk, Nick (fiance Crystal Noble) Sirk, Derek (Ashley) Morris, Rachel (Dave) Krueckeberg, Josh (Katherine) Sirk, Brittany (Tim) Grote, and Emily (Ryan) Gehring; 16 great-grandchildren, Jacob Dunning, Olivia Dunning, Jase Sirk, Ellie Sirk, Abigayle Sirk, Luke Sirk, Aiden Sirk, Joselyn Kaufmann, Theodore Morris, Hayden Krueckeberg, Kayana Krueckeberg, Avery Krueckeberg, Emma Sirk, Eleanor Sirk, Elizabeth Sirk, and Benson Grote; & one great-great-grandchild, Mason Krueckeberg.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Alan Sirk in infancy in 1955 and two brothers, Robert Lee Luginbill & Vilas Eugene Luginbill.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Chaplain John Follett officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Etna Cemetery Huntington, Indiana.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 11 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur & one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday .
Preferred memorials are to Bethel Brethren Church in Berne or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
