Troy L. Fennig

June 16, 1927 — December 9, 2017

Troy L. Fennig , 90, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Adams Woodcrest.

He was born on Thursday, June 16, 1927 in New Corydon, Indiana the son of the late Alvin L. Fennig and the late Belva G. (Woodruff) Fennig. He married Eleanor R. Sansotta on June 28, 1952.

Troy served his country in the United States Army during WWII.

He retired in 1996 from Central Soya with 51 years of service and served as a Decatur City Councilman for 11 years.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge #1311 and the American Legion Post #43. He loved spending time with his grandchildren & watching their sporting events. Troy enjoyed Indiana Basketball, pitching horse shoes, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also a member of the Adams County Bowling Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Fennig of Decatur; two sons, Alvin L. (Gail) Fennig & Philip M. (Rebecca) Fennig both of Decatur; daughter, Kay Ann (Robert) Loshe of Decatur; sister, Ruth Gehrig of Mississippi, seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Fennig and Alvin Dick Fennig, and sister, Helen Marbach.

A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur . Interment will follow in the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 13 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with the reciting of the Holy Rosary to be held at 4 p.m .

Memorials may be made to Riley Children's Hospital or Masses to the Church.
