Keith L. Frey , 82, of Decatur, IN passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
He was born on Sunday, May 19, 1935 in Allen County, IN the son of the late Carl H. Frey and the late Fern E. (Shackley) Frey. He married Shirley A. Wass on August 9, 1959 at East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville, IN and she preceded him in death on May 20, 2014.
He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served from 1956 – 1962 and was stationed in Okinawa.
He was a farmer from 1966 - 2000 and belonged to the Indiana Farm Bureau. In addition, Keith retired in 1987 after 32 years from International Harvester in Ft. Wayne. Following that retirement, he became a bus driver for North Adams Community Schools, retiring in the fall of 1997. In addition, he worked at Ryder Trucking as a semi-driver for five years.
He attended Pleasant Mills High School, graduating in 1953. He was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville, where he was an usher, trustee and a former Sunday school teacher. Keith was a member of the Union Township Lions Club.
Survivors include his two daughters, Karen L. (Anthony) Leone of Ekron, KY and Kristine L. (Joseph) Waffle of Ft. Wayne, IN; two brothers, Charles (Chloe) Frey of Perrysburg, OH, and John (Kathy) Frey of St. George, UT; sister, Mary (Richard) Butler of Front Royal, VA; three sisters-in-law, Winnifred "Jim" Frey of Willshire, OH, Marilyn Frey and Gerry Frey both of Decatur, IN; two grandsons, Austin (Ann Marie) DeLaRosa and Ryder Waffle; two granddaughters, Amanda DeLaRosa and Rachel Waffle; one great grandson, Joseph DeLaRosa; and one great granddaughter, Taliya DeLaRosa.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Wayne D. Frey, Robert E. Frey, Lloyd C. "Bud" Frey, James L. Frey, and Rodger A. Frey; step-father, J. Leroy Miller; two step-brothers, R. LaDoyt Miller and Maurice Miller; four sisters-in-law, Martha Frey, Mabel Frey, Frances Frey, and Ellen Frey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville with Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.
Friends will be received from 3-8 p.m., Friday, December 15 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
