Sondra S. “Sonnie” Anweiler , 79, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was born on Saturday, June 18, 1938 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the daughter of the late George William Sonner and the late Mildred (Wilson) Sonner. She married Ralph Daniel “Dan” Anweiler on June 7, 1958 at Hoagland United Methodist Church.
Sonnie was a homemaker. She was a very proud mother and grandmother. Sonnie loved flowers, working in the garden, and spending time at Michigamee Reservoir fishing and camping.
She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Hoagland where she had played the piano, sang in the choir, and was active in the United Methodist Women & the Sewing Missions in the church.
Survivors include her husband, Dan Anweiler of Decatur; three sons, Douglas Drew (Tonja) Anweiler, Tim Anweiler, & John (Amy) Anweiler all of Decatur; daughter, Susan Anweiler of Decatur; two sisters-in-law, Norma Bishop of Berne & Lois Anweiler of Angola; five grandchildren, Kayla Marie Anweiler, Amy Renee Anweiler; Anthony Daniel Gene “Tony” Anweiler, Jessica (Andy) Lee, & Donald (Jackie) Myers; & five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Todd Anweiler; a daughter, Cynthia Kay Anweiler in infancy; a great-grandson, Jaden Myers; & a brother, George "Jr" Sonner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 at Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Tammy Lugar officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, January 21 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Preferred memorials are to the family or Hope United Methodist Church.
