Shirley A. (Heintzelman) Hoover , 52, of Decatur, IN passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Parkview Hospital Supportive Care - Randallia in Fort Wayne, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on Monday, March 28, 1966 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the daughter of the late Oscar "Bud" Heintzelman and Margaret (Weaver) Heintzelman. She married Robert “Will” Hoover on July 5, 2002 in Decatur, Indiana. Will and Shirley were together for 31 years.
Shirley was a graduate of Heritage High School in 1984. She worked as a department manager at Walmart in Decatur for 15 years.
Shirley loved to garden. She created many beautiful flower beds at her home. She loved spending time with family and friends.
Shirley was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Will" Hoover of Decatur; mother, Margaret Heintzelman of Monroeville; six brothers, Oscar (Ruth) Heintzelman of Fort Wayne, Charlie (Janet) Heintzelman of Fort Wayne, John Heintzelman of Monroeville, Danny Heintzelman of Monroeville, Andy Heintzelman of Maples, IN, and Ben Heintzelman of Indianapolis; two sisters, Carolyn (Tony) Sipe of Monroeville and Angie (Richard) Ramirez of Fort Wayne; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Heintzelman.
A prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday April 19, 2018 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville.
Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday April 18, 2018 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville. Prior to visitation, a Rosary Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials can be made to American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Masses, or St. Rose Catholic Building Fund.
