Thelma Arnold

Thelma Arnold , 95, of Decatur, Indiana passed away April 28, 2018 at Adams Woodcrest. Thelma was born March 2, 1923 in Adams County, Indiana to the late John D. Tinkham and the late Sarah (Lautzenheiser) Tinkham. She married Eugene Arnold on December 21, 1942 in Adams County, Indiana and he preceded her in death on October 10, 2001.

Thelma graduated from Willshire High School in 1941. She was a member of the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren where she served on the Christian Education Board and was the Chair in 1978. She was also a member of the Family Life Committee, Nominating Committee, Women’s Fellowship and she taught Sunday school. Thelma belonged to the Kirkland Home Extension Club. She worked at Adams Central Schools retiring as head cook in 1992 after 25 years of service.

Thelma loved traveling, gardening, reading and attending many activities and sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Rodney) Clark of Elkhart, IN; daughter, Connie (Jeff) Shady of Decatur, IN; son, Phil (Robin) Arnold of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Rhonda (Larry) Tom of Decatur, IN; 13 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; and one Great-Great Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Jack Haney in 1983; six sisters; and one brother.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren with Rev. Jay Carter officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Pleasant Dale Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 & 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home-Decatur and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Dale Church Building Fund.
