William F. “Bill” Shoaf , 81, of Decatur passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2018 at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur. Born August 11, 1936 in Decatur, Indiana Bill was the son of the late Raymond F. Shoaf and the late Dorothy (Elston) Shoaf.
Bill served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He retired in 2001 from Decatur Industries with 39 years of services. Bill was also a former member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Decatur. He loved watching the Chicago Cubs and Indianapolis Pacers, he collected coins and baseball cards and he loved old westerns whether watching them on television, reading them, or listening to them on the radio.
Survivors include his son, Michael Eugene Shoaf of Decatur, IN; daughter, Kristine Lynn (John) Smitley of Decatur, IN; daughter, Susan Diane (Alan Converset) Miller of Sevierville, TN; brother, Allen (Jean) Shoaf of Decatur, IN; brother, Phil (Caroline) Shoaf of Willshire, OH; brother, Paul (Michelle) Shoaf of Fort Wayne, IN; sister, Karen Joseph of Decatur, IN; sister, Janet Leininger of Monroeville, IN; sister, Pam (Chuck) Bollenbacher of Rockford, OH; sister, Darlene (Jerry) Alexander of Fort Wayne, IN; fiancé, Eleanor Affolder of Decatur, IN; four grandchildren, Dusten (Trisha) Shoaf, Malisa (Dustin) Solomon, Mark Miller, Damien Shoaf; and 10 great-grandchildren, Jackson Morgan, Kegan Shoaf, Rylan Shoaf, Ahnika Shoaf, Conner Heyne, Lily Solomon, Natalie Solomon, Zayne Solomon, Keira Miller, & Gregory Shoaf.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra K. Shoaf; grandson, Matthew Miller; son-in-law, James Miller; brother, Terry Shoaf; and three sisters, Carol Murray, Barbara Tumbleson, & D. LaRae Dixon.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Interment will follow at the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 pm. Monday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
