Tillman W Sprunger

Tillman(Tim) W. Sprunger, 96, Berne. passed away on October 26, 2017 at Bluffton Regional Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1921 in Adams County to Emil and Matilda Hirschy Sprunger. He married Jeanette Amstutz on October 28, 1948 in Berne.

Tim was a veteran WW II serving from 1942 to 1945 in the Pacific theater and was a member of the Berne American Legion. He was a skllled woodworker and worked at several local furniture factories. He also helped build, remodel or repair many homes in the Berne area. Tim retired from Berne Furniture in 1986. He helped many people wih yardwork during his retirement years. Tim was very good at many sports including golf, bowling, and fast softball pitcher. Tim was also an avid sports fan, rooting for many of the South Adams teams along with Notre Dame and the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of the First Missionary Church of Berne where he served as an usher for many years.

He is survived by his son, Wayne Sprunger of Berne, daughter, Jama(Will)Mitchel of Granger, grandchildren, John and Frances, brother, Leroy(Carolyn)Sprunger of Berne, sister Miriam Sprunger of Berne, sister-in-laws, Roemary Wiederkehr, DeVona Amstutz, Sharon Amsutz and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death are his parents, wife, brothers, Norman, Eli, Melvin, Clifford, Raymond, sisters, Minnie Basinger, Inez Patterson, Esther Biberstein, and Edith Minger.

Funeral services Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:30am at the First Missionary Church, Berne with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Friday, November 3 from 3 to 7 pm at the church. Officiating is Pastor Don Williams. Burial is in the MRE Cemetery with graveside military services by the Berne American Legion Post #468.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Family Life Care &/or First Missionary Church.
