Max M. Myers, 72, Berne passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital, Ft. Wayne. He was born on July 5, 1945 in Adams County, IN to Andrew and Glendola Bebout Myers. He married Joyce Suman on October 28, 1981.
In 1972 Max became owner and operator of Geneva Electric. He was a veteran and spent time in Japan and Korea. Max was a member of the Berne American Legion Post #468 where he served as a trustee and a member of the color guard. He also was a member of the Geneva VFW. For over 30 years he was a member of the Berne Fire Department where he served as assistance fire chief. Max was a member of the Berne Lions Club. Max prided himself with his Dad's 1945 John Deere tractor and cherished his 1966 Corvette Stingray. And Max especially loved his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include the wife, Joyce, daughters, Ronda Bechinski of Decatur, Rita Bollenbacher of Muncie, Racquel "Kelly"(Greg)Werich of Bluffton, and 3 grandchildren.
Preceding in death are his parents and son-in-law Jeffrey Bechinski.
Graveside services are at 10 am on Thursday, September 21 at the MRE Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to the service. Berne American Legion Post #468 will perform military rites. Visitation is Wednesday from 2 to 7 pm at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home. Officiating is Pastor Wilbur Taylor. Pallbearers will be provided by the Berne Fire Department.
Preferred memorials are to the DAV Veteran's Van Fund &/or Berne Post #468 Color Guard Fund.
